Orthodontic Services

Orthodontics is a specialized field of dentistry focused on diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental and facial irregularities, particularly misaligned teeth and jaws. Orthodontic treatments not only enhance the appearance of the smile but also improve bite function, oral health, and overall quality of life. By using braces, aligners, and other devices, orthodontists work to correct malocclusions (bite problems) and straightening teeth to achieve a more harmonious and functional bite.

Braces (Traditional Metal Braces):

Traditional braces consist of metal brackets, wires, and elastic bands that gradually move teeth into the desired position. These braces are ideal for correcting a wide range of dental issues, including crowding, spacing, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. While metal braces are highly effective, newer, more aesthetic options are also available.

Retainers:

After braces or aligner treatment, retainers are used to maintain the position of the teeth and prevent them from shifting back to their original position. Retainers can be fixed (permanent) or removable, depending on the treatment plan and the patient’s needs. They are typically worn full-time initially and then transitioned to part-time wear.

Space Maintainers:

Space maintainers are used for children who lose a baby tooth prematurely. These devices ensure that there is enough space in the mouth for the permanent teeth to emerge properly. Space maintainers can be fixed or removable and help prevent future dental crowding.

Palatal Expanders:

A palatal expander is used to widen the upper jaw to correct a crossbite or narrow arch. It gradually expands the palate by applying gentle pressure, creating more space for the teeth to align properly. This is often used in younger patients whose jaws are still developing.
